Corais

A surf break rather than a beach, just past the lighthouse jetty that shelters Concha. Long tubes over sharp rock, and advanced surfers only.

Corais is not somewhere you spend an afternoon on the sand. It is a wave, tucked just past the lighthouse jetty that shelters Praia da Concha, and it throws long, clean left and right tubes over sharp rock.

There is no channel to paddle through, which makes getting in and out the serious part rather than the ride. It only switches on with overhead surf and works best on a solid, clean east swell at low tide. This is a barrel hunter's wave and nobody else's.

Where it sits in the wider picture is in surfing in Itacaré.

Places appear here once we have been and checked them. That takes a visit, so this list grows slowly on purpose.
