Surf
Some effortThe reason a lot of people come. A dozen breaks inside twenty kilometres, schools and board rental in town, and warm water all year so nobody bothers with a wetsuit.

The four beaches trail
Some effortThe classic walk, linking Engenhoca, Havaizinho, Camboinha and Itacarezinho through Atlantic forest. A full day if you swim at each one, which is the point.

Waterfalls
EasyThe hinterland behind town is full of them. Some are a short walk off the road, others need a guide and a vehicle.

Ziplines and canopy walks
EasySuspended trails and ziplines strung through the forest canopy inland of the beaches. The safest way to spend a rainy afternoon outdoors.

EasyOut of the river mouth and down the coast to beaches you cannot reach on foot, or up the river into the mangroves.

Whale watching
EasyHumpbacks pass this coast on their way to mate and calve in warmer water. There is no dedicated whale watching boat from Itacaré itself, but on a clear day you can often see them from the shore and the clifftops.

Capoeira
EasyBahia is where it comes from, and rodas happen in the open in town. Watching is free and welcome, joining in is usually a matter of asking.

The cacao route
EasyThis is the Costa do Cacau. Working farms inland run tastings and tours, from the pod on the tree to chocolate you can eat.
