Praia do Resende

The first of the open beaches south of town, a short walk past the point, backed by coconut palms.

Resende is where the coast stops being sheltered. Walk south past the point from Concha and the bay opens out into open Atlantic, with palms behind the sand and rock at either end. It is the first beach on the walk that feels like the ocean rather than a harbour.

It is popular without being crowded, close enough to walk to from anywhere in town, and it has enough behind it to spend an afternoon. The water has real movement in it, which is the difference between here and Concha and worth knowing before you swim.

Places appear here once we have been and checked them. That takes a visit, so this list grows slowly on purpose.
