South of the town beaches, quieter again, and the point where the coast starts to feel undeveloped.

São José is where the coast south of Itacaré starts to feel genuinely undeveloped. Forest comes down close to the sand, there is little built behind it, and on most days outside the Brazilian holidays you will not be sharing it with many people.

Like everything on this stretch it is reached from the coast road and a walk, and like everything on this stretch you should take what you need with you.
