Taboquinhas

Inland on the Rio de Contas, an hour or so from the coast. River, rapids and cacao country rather than beaches.

Taboquinhas is not a beach and that is the reason to go. It sits inland on the Rio de Contas in the middle of cacao country, and it is where people come for the river rather than the sea: rapids, rafting, and swimming somewhere that is not salt.

It is a district of Itacaré rather than a separate town, and getting there means the road inland rather than the coast road. Most people go for a day with an operator rather than making their own way.

It fits naturally into the inland day described in waterfalls, river and forest.

Places appear here once we have been and checked them. That takes a visit, so this list grows slowly on purpose.
