Serra Grande

A village down the coast road towards Ilhéus, quieter than Itacaré and with its own long beaches. A different pace entirely.

Serra Grande is a village further down the BA-001 towards Ilhéus, and people who choose it over Itacaré are choosing something quieter on purpose. It has long beaches, far less built on them, and none of the nightlife.

As a base it works if you have a car and want space, and it works badly if you want to walk to dinner. Plenty of people split a trip between the two, using Itacaré for the town and Serra Grande for the quiet at the end.

Being out here is one of the few situations in which renting a car genuinely pays for itself, as covered in getting around Itacaré.
